Vintage AMPCO type K 10B Industrial / Marine Signal Lantern
Authentic vintage WWII industrial lantern with rugged, utilitarian character. Appears to be made of solid brass. This piece features a heavy-gauge metal body with an aged olive-gray patina, original paint loss, and surface wear consistent with decades of use. The thick convex glass lens is housed in a bolted bezel, giving it a distinctive nautical or railway signal appearance. A sturdy top handle allows for carrying or hanging.
Likely mid-20th century, this lamp was designed for demanding environments—such as marine, railroad, military, or industrial applications—where durability was essential. Most likely was in use on a naval ship or ship yard due to grey paint. The interior reflector and glass lens remain intact but has a small 1” crack as shown in the last picture, yet making it an excellent candidate for restoration, conversion to electric, or display as-is. It’s made by AMPCO and is a type K 10-B
Details:
Solid metal construction with original aged finish
Convex glass lens with visible reflector
Top carry/hanging handle
Visible wear, paint loss, and patina add authentic character
Unrestored condition
